Honeywell Smartens Up Air Purifier with Bluetooth

The new HPA-250B can be controlled via iOS and Android devices.

As I’ve aged, I’ve developed a slew of interesting allergies — and by “interesting,” I mean painful and inconvenient. Recently, I’ve found a little bit of relief by adding an air purifier into my home. It not only makes me breathe better, but it also makes the air seem cleaner overall.

Just in case breathing isn’t enough of a selling point, Honeywell is making adding an air purifier even more enticing, by making it high-tech. The company just started selling the HPA-250B, a Bluetooth-enabled air purifier.

Yes, this machine adds Bluetooth into the equation, so you can use an iOS or Android device to turn the HPA-250B on and off from anywhere within 30 feet. However, it also means that you can schedule use and get alerts whenever it’s time to change the HEPA filter. It can even pull alerts from the web and adjust levels accordingly.

It’s important to mention again that this thing has a HEPA filter! That goodness is something you should look for in any air purifier, seeing that it traps all sorts of teeny tiny allergens.

Promising to snag 99.97 percent of airborne allergens that are 0.3 microns and larger, the HPA-250B is designed for rooms up to 310 square feet. It’s available now for $269.99.
