Things burn, boil over and get nuked to the point where you’ve created a new chemical compound. In other words, you probably spend a lot of your day cursing at kitchen appliances. GE wants to make cooking a more pleasurable experience for all, by injecting a little high-tech help into: the company’s: Profile lineup.
The newly announced: line of GE smart home appliances will include a: selection of ranges: and an over-the-range microwave that can sync together via the power of Bluetooth and GE’s: Chef Connect feature. When the two kitchen components: are combined, Chef Connect will offer those GE smart home appliances options for lighting the stovetop, syncing clocks, and even turning on the vent fan.
More specifically, when the range’s burner is on, it will signal to turn on the microwave’s lights. No switches or apps are needed. GE is even adding in a third light for a better peek at what’s cooking. The clocks for both GE smart home appliances will also be completely in sync, so you won’t have to worry about timing holiday gatherings or even daily meals. And finally, the vent will be an option users can set, so that the fan will automatically go on whenever the range is on.
The Over-the-Range Microwave will feature bottom controls, an integrated handle, and a capacity of 2.1 cubic feet. The Free Standing Gas and Electric Profile Ranges promise a sleek new look and edge-to edge-cooktops.
“We believe adding this technology will be a feature consumers in kitchens throughout America can appreciate,” says Heather Koyama, product manager of GE Appliances. “This connectivity is really about convenience.”
These latest GE smart home appliances: will start selling very soon. The Over-the-Range Microwave will be available starting in September in stainless or slate for $499, with a black or white option going for $449. The Free Standing Gas and Electric Profile Ranges will launch right before that in August, with electric starting at $1,100 and gas going for $100 more.
