Compass Control Adds IC Realtime Security, Aprilaire Thermostat Integration

Key Digital's home automation systems add robust security, thermostat products compatibility.

Key Digital's Compass Control now supports integration of certain products from IC Realtime and Aprilaire.

Key Digital‘s Compass Control home automation system is still in relative infancy compared with other control and monitoring systems, and the company has just added integration compatibility for a couple of vendors in key areas: IC Realtime and its security and surveillance, and Aprilaire and its programmable thermostats.

IC Realtime’s Flex, Elite, NVR700N and NVR700S2P series CCTV security video surveillance recorders now natively integrate into Compass Control, and as a Compass Alliance Partner, IC Realtime worked closely with Key Digital to develop pure bi-directional drivers that provide full DVR control, as well as feedback from the IC Realtime device.

Compass Control is a fully-integrated control system designed around Apple’s iOS devices (iPad, iPad mini, iPhone, and iPod touch) that was launched in May 2012. The system provides installers with bi-directional IR, two-way RS-232 with feedback, and two-way TCP/IP control. The new drivers are part of the design software.

“Resulting from cooperative efforts between Key Digital and IC Realtime, the integration of IC Realtime’s DVRs within the Compass Control environment represents a powerful and user-friendly comprehensive solution delivering iOS-based control and entertainment functionality,” says Key Digital vice president of sales Michael Lakhter.

Key Digital says engineers at Compass Control profiled the Aprilaire Model 8800 communicating thermostat and completed a bi-directional driver that enables seamless integration of Aprilaire Model 8800 thermostat in the Compass Control environment.

“The collaboration between Key Digital and Aprilaire has resulted in a bi-directional driver for our Model 8800 thermostat which is not only easy to configure, but allows for powerful integration possibilities,” says Aprilaire’s HVAC automation sales manager David Wood.
