The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is getting revved up for its 29th year of the New American Home — and home control will certainly be a part of it.

Clare Controls has been selected by Architectural Electronics, Inc., to be included in the project. The annual event showcases industry construction technologies and products, and serves as the NAHB’s official “show home.”

Architectural Electronics will use the ClareHome system to “configure, deploy, service and monitor from the cloud, while the system runs locally in the home.” The end-users, on the other hand, can customize that interface on their own, by adding audio, video, lighting, security, and other services from the cloud-based Applet library. No installer is needed.

Also, instead of a pricey touchscreen, ClareHome uses an Apple iPad, an iPhone, or any web browser to access and manage the system.

“Our company was created with two key principals in mind: putting the user in control or the user experience and improving dealer efficiency,” said Clare Controls CEO Brett Price. “As the home automation systems provider for the New American Home project, we look forward to demonstrating how our systems and technologies exceed in making those concepts a reality.“

The 2011 New America Home will be seen on HGTV Pro later this year. The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) and Home Technology Alliance (HTA) also expect to document the project with case studies and a video series.

The 2012 New American Home is expected to make its big debut in conjunction with the NAHB International Builders’ Show, which will take place in Orlando, Fla., from February 8-11, 2012.
