CasaTunes Adds BlackBerry App, Android Updates

The new options are designed to deliver CasaTunes to any room of the house.

Manufacturers are always announcing control options for iOS devices. Now, CasaTunes is giving a little love to Android and BlackBerry users.

Actually, the company has had an Android app for a while, but it just got a few updates. The BlackBerry app is new and designed for use with the Z10 smartphone.

The Android update delivers a CasaTunes Dream for the Android Daydream feature. Using 4.2 or later, the Android device can display cover art and images of the artist that is playing in the room along with the time of day when docked during Daydream mode. It also boasts an easier set-up process via ZeroConfig.

The BlackBerry app is similar to the others, providing access to rooms and the option to search and select songs by album, artist, genre, song title or playlist. CasaTunes can tap into music being played from a music library on a computer, phone or tablet, as well as any of the music services built into CasaTunes. That lineup includes Spotify,, TuneIn Radio and SHOUTcast.

Other features allow users to fall asleep or wake up to music, synchronize music throughout the house, and more.

“CasaTunes was the first of the multi-room companies to have an Android app, a true Android Tablet app and an Android Widget — and now we can add CasaTunes Dream for Android Daydream to the list,” says David Krinker, CEO of CasaTunes.

CasaTunes is now available via iTunes, Google Play, and BlackBerry World. All CasaTunes Music Systems can deliver streaming music to wired and wireless speakers, multi-channel amplifiers and multi-zone AV receivers. The system is designed for a variety of installs, with both wired and wireless options available. For example, the CasaTunes CT-3 multi-room music system and three AirPlay speakers can provide a six-room solution for $1,999.
