Yamaha RX-V377 Receiver Puts Surround Sound Up Front

The company's latest AVR is available now, priced under $300.

Yamaha has been slowly leaking out new products since the beginning of the year. First, the company kicked off 2014 with a micro component system. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a new soundbar and a Blu-ray 3D player. Now, the company is hoping you’re looking for something to hook all of those AV components to the rest of your home theater system.

However, the RX-V377 isn’t some type of afterthought. It’s actually designed to be the hub of your home theater. This new 5.1-channel receiver boasts 100 watts per channel (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9 percent THD, 1-ch. driven), as well as 4K Ultra HD video pass-through via HDMI. It also includes Yamaha’s own Cinema Front technology, so you can put all five speakers at the front of the room and still have the system pack the surround sound punch. Sometimes having a 5.1 system spread around the room isn’t always possible; this is the solution.

Other features include four HDMI inputs, a front-panel USB port, and YPAO automatic system calibration, as well as Cinema DSP with 17 DSP programs, Silent Cinema, the Compressed Music Enhancer, and more. It also has support for all of today’s top audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.

“The RX-V377 delivers uncompromised Yamaha build and sound quality to first time home theater system buyers,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha’s AV products. “Our new Virtual Cinema Front feature offers increased speaker placement flexibility for achieving 5-channel surround sound in any room, providing expanded speaker placement options for consumers”

Despite its many features, Yamaha has priced the RX-V377 for those with a budget in mind. It’s shipping now with an MSRP of $299.95.
