Yamaha Puts Subs into YSP-1400 and YAS-152 Soundbars

The new pair of all-in-one sound solutions also support app control.

The soundbar is pretty simple. The one box can boost your TV’s audio, all without having to fill the room with speakers and wires. However, there’s typically one thing missing from the standard soundbar: bass.

Bass puts you in the middle of the action, by putting boom into your room. Some soundbars come packaged with a wireless subwoofer. However, Yamaha is just sticking the goods right inside a pair of new soundbars. The YSP-1400 and YAS-152 will both start selling sometime in October 2013.

Both soundbars feature “all-in-one” designs with dual built-in subwoofers. Boasting crisp sound and a clean appearance, each one also packs in Bluetooth for wireless music streaming, as well as app control. The YSP-1400 and YAS-152 work with Yamaha’s free downloadable apps for Apple iOS and Android devices.

The YSP-1400 has Yamaha’s Digital Sound Projector technology, with a simple setup process. Promising to be the lowest priced single-body soundbar to deliver 5.1 discreet channels of surround sound, the YSP-100 also has Clear Voice technology, support for Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, 76 watts of total power, and the TV Remote Repeater function. It also comes packing digital optical and coaxial inputs, as well as two analog audio inputs.

Featuring Yamaha’s Air Surround Xtreme technology, the YAS-152 promises virtual 7.1-channel surround sound. Designed for TVs that are 55 inches and up, the YAS-152 also has the TV Remote Repeater, Clear Voice and UniVolume features, as well as 120 watts of power. It can also support Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II audio formats. It’s important to note that the same inputs are included on this model, but the YAS-152 does add in a subwoofer output if you’re in need of an extra boost.

Yamaha is currently showing off the YSP-1400 and YAS-152 at this week’s 2013 CEDIA Expo in Denver, Colorado. Both soundbars are expected to ship next month, priced at $449.95 and $349.95, respectively.
