Yamaha Plans A-S3000 Amp and CD-S3000 CD Player for September

The flagship Hi-Fi models feature a classic retro look and state-of-the-art features.

The A-S3000 (top) and CD-S3000 (bottom) will ship in September.

Yamaha is going old-school for back to school season. The company just announced a pair of 2-channel AV components that combine a retro look with state-of-the-art features.

First up is the A-S3000 integrated amplifier, which has MOSFETs and a large toroidal transformer to produce a warm tube-line sound. Other features include original speaker terminals, low impedance through secure screw connections, a discretely configured phono amp, and large level meters.

If you’ve looking to do something with that pile of discs you’ve amassed, Yamaha will also release the CD-S3000 CD/SACD player. However, this component also has a built-in USB DAC for high-res digital files. That’s the 32-bit ESS SABRE32 Reference DAC, to be exact. The player also boasts vibration control and a high-precision rigid CD mechanism, as well as Yamaha’s Pure Direct mode to help give the sound a little boost whether it’s analog or digital.

“As a company with a rich heritage in musical instruments, and music playback with two-channel audio, we know that these flagship components deliver on their impressive specs. We also know that this is just the beginning,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha’s AV Division. “The A-S3000 and CD-S3000 are greater than the sum of their parts. They are designed-by-ear to create closer bonds between artists and listeners for truly elevated audio experiences.”

Yamaha says that the A-S3000 and the CD-S3000 will both start selling in September. Available in a black piano finish, the components are priced at $7,999.95 and $6,999.95, respectively.
