Mounting the TV can be a daunting task. Instead of having to drill into the wall (and lift that TV up above your head!), Sanus offers another stable solution in its Furniture Mount System (FMS).
The newly announced solution mounts that flat-panel TV to a furniture-mounted pillar instead of the wall. With FMS-compatible audio/video furniture, you should also have plenty of space for all of your favorite audio and video components.
Sanus says that the FMS is a no-drill TV mounting system. It supports HDTVs ranging from 32 to 60 inches, up to 130 pounds.
Besides the steel pillar that holds that HDTV, the FMS includes cable management guides to keep that web of A/V wires neat and/or out of sight. The built-in TV mount can tilt and swivel and even adjust up to 10 inches, so you can get all of the benefits of mounting an HDTV — without actually mounting it.
“Mounting a TV, whether on the wall or on our Furniture Mount System, is by far a much safer way of displaying today’s large flat-screen TVs, which can easily tip over and cause damage or injury,” says Steve Frank, director of product development at Sanus. “The FMS provides a safe TV mounting solution for people who don’t want to drill holes in their wall or for instances where wall mounting isn’t possible, such as in an apartment building.”
Sanus will start selling the FMS in the first quarter of 2012. It’s listed as the FMS01, so we have to assume that others will follow. The FMS01 will have an MSRP of $179.99.
