Samsung Starts Shipping HomeSync Media Hub

The set-top box was designed as a living room companion for your Galaxy device.

Back in February, Samsung introduced the HomeSync, a new media center for Android users. Now, after months of waiting and watching the company display the product, it’s finally shipping.

The HomeSync is an Android-based media center, which can store, sync and stream all sorts of content across multiple devices — including your TV. That’s made possible by pairing this compact box up with one of Samsung’s Galaxy devices. See how that works?

It even promises an interface that mimics that smartphone or tablet, which you can use as a remote control for the box. The HomeSync also has 1TB of storage for photos, videos and music, as well as room for up to eight accounts. That allows everyone in the house to sync with the HomeSync.

Other features include real-time sharing and the ability to access files anywhere. It also has a powerful processor, support for a wired or wireless mouse and keyboard, and access to web browsing, YouTube, apps, games, social networking, and more. Just connect the HomeSync to any HDTV via an HDMI connection.

Also worth noting are the Galaxy Perks, which will give you $50 to spend on movies and TV shows through Samsung Media Hub, whenever you register the HomeSync.

“HomeSync is a powerful platform that we envision to be the center of a household’s connected life,” said Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of emerging business at Samsung Mobile. “We saw an opportunity to create a companion device at home, that seamlessly syncs all of your mobile content wherever you are.”

Samsung says that the HomeSync will work with the Galaxy S 4 or Galaxy Note 3, as well as the Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition, Galaxy Camera, and other devices that use Samsung Link. It’s selling now, with an MSRP of $299.
