Pioneer HTZ-BD32 Home Theater System Does Networking and 3D

3D, Wi-Fi and streaming media

If you want to submerse yourself in the sounds of victory and defeat that will make up this year’s London Olympics, why not do it with a new surround sound system?

Pioneer just launched the HTZ-BD32 complete home theater system that comes with a 5.1 channel speaker package, Wi-Fi enabled 3D Blu-ray player and integrated 1,100 Watt receiver/amplifier.

This is a fairly entry-level system at $499, but it comes with plenty of features for any living room or modest media room. The receiver/BD player includes Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and Virtual 3D sound, as well as Pioneer’s Advanced Sound Retriever technology which is supposed to make digital audio file, such as MP3s sound better.

If you don’t have a smart TV or streaming media box yet, this system will have you covered. It includes music and video from Pandora, Netflix and YouTube, plus online photo sharing with Picasa. Also included is DLNA for networking your PC files. Add the AS-BT200 adapter for Bluetooth.

The speakers are all smallish satellite speakers with color-coded wires, so novices can easily figure out how to connect the system. It comes with a 250-Watt powered subwoofer. The small speakers can be mounted on walls.

This seems to pack a lot into a $499 system from a good brand. What else would we want? A wireless subwoofer and AirPlay would be nice. Here are a couple other Pioneer home theater receivers with AirPlay.
