New $10K Lexicon MC-14 Surround Processor Coming in April

The new preamplifier/processor was designed as a successor to the MC-12.

New year, new preamp/processor for Lexicon. Harman’s high-end brand just announced the Lexicon MC-14 Surround Processor at CES 2014.

As the successor to Lexicon’s MC-12 platform, the 7.1-channel MC-14 was designed to be paired with Lexicon’s RX-7 and ZX-7 multi-channel amplifiers. It has plenty of digital and analog audio and video connections to accommodate Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, game consoles, TVs, and more. That lineup includes eight HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs, nine digital audio inputs, six stereo analog and 7.1 analog inputs, balanced and single-ended audio outputs, a headphone jack, and more. It also has Ethernet and RS-232 ports, IR input and trigger inputs and outputs.

Other features include Crystal Semiconductor D/A converters, discrete Class A audio circuitry, separate power supplies for the analog and digital sections, multiroom operation, and support for Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and several other formats. There’s even a bypass mode, which can provide an all-analog signal path for analog music sources.

“We are excited to make this introduction, following the recent announcement that Lexicon has been awarded a 2014 Technical Grammy for contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field,” said Michael Mauser, president of Harman’s lifestyle division. “The Lexicon brand is synonymous with offering the finest in audio/video components. The MC-14 delivers the very best from the widest range of program sources including computer-based audio and media servers, and is sure to satisfy the most demanding home theater enthusiasts and audiophiles.”

The Lexicon MC-14 Surround Processor will ship with a remote, starting in April 2014. Expect the component to be priced at $10,500.
