NAD Electronics is getting a jump on the 2013 International CES frenzy. Instead of waiting to get lost in the flood of product announcements coming in a few short weeks, the company has already started shipping the new T 977.

It’s sort of hard to lose this new 7-channel amplifier, though. Designed to replace the NAD T 975, the T 977 can crank 140 watts of power to each of its seven channels. It also has something called PowerDrive to double effective power on transients, while Soft Clipping limits high-frequency energy during clipping to protect the loudspeaker from damage.

Other features include a forced air system, an eco-friendly standby mode, a programmable 12v trigger input, and compatibility with NAD’s T 187 AV Surround PrePro (of course!).

“The NAD T 977 embodies our latest thinking on amplifier design. That means an amplifier that excels under the most demanding conditions yet runs cool and is energy efficient. Since many high performance systems are professionally installed, we made sure that this amplifier is easy to install and ultra-reliable.” explained Greg Stidsen, NAD’s director of technology and product planning. “By pairing the T 977 with our critically-acclaimed T 187 AV Surround processor, the most demanding home theater enthusiast will enjoy a high performance home theater system that rivals systems costing far more.”

NAD is shipping the T 977 amplifier now, with an MSRP of $2,799. The company will also show off the component at next month’s 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.
