We’ve been talking about a lot of Dolby Atmos products lately. Now, Marantz is ready to stop talking and start producing. The company will start shipping its first Dolby Atmos-capable receiver, the SR7009, next month.

Dolby Atmos is a new audio format that can produce sound from a variety of different directions — including above.

If you aren’t quite ready for that yet, the company will also release the SR6009 around the same time. This 7.2-channel AVR won’t have the Dolby Atmos magic, but it will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Boasting 110 watts for each of its channels, the SR6009 can support 4K and 3D and has a solid aluminum trap door on the front to hide control buttons and connections. Other features include the latest current feedback topology, new Marantz HDAMs, Audyssey MultEQ XT room calibration, Audyssey DSX and dts-Neo:X, eight HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs, and a phono input.

Also worth mentioning is that this model has a built-in digital media player, which can tackle streaming audio as well as music stored on a networked PC or external storage device.

The SR7009 has everything mentioned above, as well as nine discrete amplifier channels, each of which boasts 125 watts of power. However, thanks to four DSP (Digital Sound Processing) engines, the AVR can do up to 11.2 channels (with an extra amp) and support Atmos, as well as Audyssey DSX.

Other features include three HDMI outputs, a 13.2-channel pre-out capability, and the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 / Sub EQ HT/LFC (Pro ready) room correction suite.

Marantz will ship both models sometime in September. The SR7009 has an MSRP of $1,999, with the SR6009 priced at $1,299.
