LG is letting a few goodies slip out before the big unveil at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show, and one of their coolest new products is a projector/screen combo that should have many heads turning.
The HECTO Laser TV system combines a 100-inch screen and a Ultra Short Throw projector. The screen incorporates ambient light rejection technology to allow the image to be enjoyed even with a fair amount of light in the room, which means you don’t have to sit in the dark to watch you movies. The 1080p resolution projector uses a laser-based illumination system that provides 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and only needs to be positioned 22 inches from the screen. This means you can sit the projector on a table in front of the screen wall without needing to install it on a ceiling halfway across the room.
The system includes a built-in digital TV tuner and two 10W built-in speakers. A complete complement of inputs, including 3 HDMIs, allow for connection of other source devices. An optical audio output, as well as RS-232 interface, allows for integration into virtually any home theater environment.
Users also get access to a wide assortment of online content with LG’s Smart TV platform and built-in Wi-Fi. The system also comes with LG’s Magic Remote.
LG says the laser-based lamp will run for about 25,000 hours.
