Earlier this year, Onkyo announced a few new receivers. Now, we’re already seeing one of them go on sale.
Amazon has the Onkyo TX-NR515 7.2-channel receiver listed for just $376.36. This is a little over $222 off the list price, and also includes free shipping.
The TX-NR515 features hardwired Ethernet networking, with the option to add wireless via the UWF-1 Wireless USB adapter (sold separately). That connectivity is important, too, since this receiver has music “cloud server” access via MP3tunes.
Other features include 3D support, InstaPrevue, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, Onkyo’s own WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology), Audio Channel Return, and plenty of HDMI and USB ports. It also has Marvell’s Qdeo processing, Dolby Pro Logic IIz support, and Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). That MHL feature is an interface protocol that allows 1080p video and stills with 7.1 channels of surround sound to travel over HDMI from MHL-compatible smartphones and other portable devices.
Of course, this model is also compatible with Onkyo’s free Remote App for the iPod touch, iPhone and Android devices.
There’s no word on how long Amazon will have this receiver at this price, but it is the least expensive that we’ve seen. Just make sure to choose Super Saver Shipping to get delivery for free, and save a little more on this purchase.
