Elite Prime Vision's PolarStar screen

A projection screen is your best (and biggest!) bet for a true home theater experience. However, it’s not without issues. One of those issues can be glare.

Elite Prime Vision, a division of Elite Screens Inc., is blowing that problem out of the water with its latest release.

The PolarStar is an ambient light-rejecting projection screen, which also has 3D polarization. It has the company’s own Airbright 5D material, which boasts brightness and contrast via a highly reflective surface that’s coated by a gray diffusion layer. Other features include a brightness of 1.8 gain and a 120-degree viewing angle.

“Although 3D home theater is fun once in a while, customers want a versatile solution that gives stunning picture quality the other 99 percent of the time,” says David Rodgers, marketing manager of Elite Screens, Inc. “Current trends show that home theater enthusiasts like 3D, but don’t want to be stuck with it 24/7. That is why we developed an angular reflective material that is polarized for 3D, but is equally serviceable as a 2D ambient light-rejecting material, so that our customers get exactly what they want in a projection screen, when they want it.”

Elite Screens will make the PolarStar Projection Screen available in sizes ranging from 100 to 150 inches, with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The starting price on the screen is $2,200.
