We’ve seen Edifier release a lot of weird speakers. (For instance, here’s one and here’s another one.) Now, we’re seeing something truly weird for the company: a full 5.1 speaker system. The S760D is shipping now.
The S760D isn’t the company’s first 5.1 system, but it’s the latest. It has four satellite speakers, a center channel, and a subwoofer — for a total of 540 watts (RMS). Each of those speakers has 3.5-inch mid-range drivers and 1-inch silk dome tweeters, with the sub packing in a 10-inch bass driver and two passive radiators.
It also has Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS sound decoders, which makes this setup a nice choice for home entertainment, gaming and more. Other features include Class D amp and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, as well as three optical, one coaxial, analog 5.1, and two stereo inputs.
Sort of interesting is that the setup includes both wired and wireless remote control options for trimming, tuning, volume and input adjustments. The wired option has an LCD display.
Edifier is selling the S760D, with an MSRP of $799.99.
