Still have bulky keys weighing down your pocket, purse or backpack? Yale Real Living wants to lighten up your daily load by smartening up your front door. The company just announced plans to start selling the Yale Real Living Assure Smart Lock.
This latest smart lock can replace keys with Bluetooth and your favorite portable. The Yale Digital Keys app is available now for iOS and Android devices, as well as the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch.
To unlock the door with the Samsung Gear S2, touch the watch app to activate the digital key, then touch the lock screen to unlock the deadbolt. Yale also has “Twist and Go” technology for smartphone users. Just hold the phone vertically when walking up to the door. Then, turn it 90 degrees to unlock the deadbolt. If that seems to complicated, you can also enter a code on the deadbolt’s touchscreen.
The Yale app also allows you to unlock doors remotely, send keys to others, control and revoke access, and get notifications whenever someone enters. Other features include the ability to set colors and upload photos to match keys and locks with people and locations, the option to manage when each user can access the lock, and the choice to use Z-Wave or ZigBee by swapping out the Bluetooth module.
“Our Bluetooth lock and Digital Keys app deliver a new level of security, convenience and versatility to homeowners, and most importantly, keep it simple—all that’s needed is the lock and a phone to manage access to your home,” said Jason Williams, general manager of Yale Residential. “And Seos reassures homeowners that their homes are secured by robust, proven technology.”
The Yale Real Living Assure Smart Lock will be available in polished brass, satin nickel and oil rubbed bronze sometime in the first quarter of 2016. The lock comes with five free digital keys for $224.99. Additional digital keys can be purchased for $1.99 each on Google Play or through the iTunes App Store.
