The company has announced LiNK, a set of Z-Wave-enabled deadbolts and locks.

Schlage LiNK

Schlage's LiNK Starter Kit comes with one deadbolt or lock, a wireless Z-Wave Bridge and a compatible light module.

Forget your key? Just call up access to your home.

Schlage just announced LiNK, a new line of deadbolts and locks that can be tapped into via any web browser — including the one on your cell phone. Even better, you can keep tabs on the status of visitors, and let people in — all while you are out of town.

Of course, you don’t even have to touch that cell phone. Schlage LiNK deadbolts and locks provide a keyless entry via 4-digit access codes that you can punch in on the unit’s keypad. No extra keys are needed.

If you want to know when the kids come home, you can set the LiNK up to send text or email messages when certain codes are used.

Each of the new products uses Z-Wave, which also means they can integrate with over 300 other Z-Wave-enabled home automation products, including lighting, pool and temperature controls.

The Schlage LiNK Starter Kit comes with one deadbolt or lock, a wireless Z-Wave Bridge and a compatible light module — all for $299. Additional deadbolts and/or locks will cost $199. To use the online portal and mobile apps is another $13 per month, which includes 100MB of memory for IP camera video, if you’ve got it.

All of Schlage’s LiNK deadbolts and locks will be available at Fry’s and select professional builders starting in late October.
