There are a lot of home security cameras out there. There are stand-alone webcams that you can monitor through any web-enabled device. There are also webcams that are made to be part of a bigger home automation system—which you can also monitor through web-based devices. However, Remocam is a webcam that actually wants to serve as the cornerstone of that home automation system.
Remocam is a new IoT (Internet of Things) IP pan-and-tilt security camera, which offers live streaming, 1080p video, night vision, motion detection, alerts, and much more. The camera is easy to set up, by connecting it to your network via WiFi.
However, the really cool thing about it is that it’s designed to be part of a bigger home automation system. To make that system, the company is offering “Remocam Friends,” which includes RemoBulbs LED light bulbs, the RemoPet automatic pet feeder, and the RemoHub automated outlet. Each one also works with the free Remocam mobile app.
Remocam is currently taking pre-orders on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo. For a minimum pledge of $199, you can secure one Remocam, with rewards for the RemoBulbs, the RemoHub, the RemoPet, and various packages also available.
“We are very excited to introduce this smart security device that can achieve IoT home automation. It is only beginning though,” said Paul Lee, the co-founder and managing director of Remocam. “This campaign will not only help us bring Remocam into the market by August, but also help us create Remocam’s successors that will have better and greater capacity of IoT home automation. Our visions and plans for IoT security camera is two years ahead of where we are now. It is just a matter of the fund that can convert these visions into reality. We are already planning to launch the second Remocam version with Z-Wave platform all at the same time, which will give even wider range of control.”
The Indiegogo campaign will run through June 4, 2015. After that, backers can expect to receive their rewards sometime in August.
