Noke is the Bluetooth Padlock You’ve Been Waiting For

The latest high-tech security measure eliminates the need for keys and combinations.

We’ve seen a variety of high-tech door locks and deadbolts. But what do you do when you need to lock up a storage space, a boat, a bike, a locker or something else you hold precious? Get yourself a Noke.

The Noke is a new padlock by Fuz Designs. However, it takes the keys out of the boring, old padlock and makes it sort of cool by adding in Bluetooth. Users can then tap into an app on their iOS or Android device of choice to unlock the lock, just by getting close to it. It even allows you to share that ability with friends, in case someone needs quickie access.

Another nice thing about the Noke is that it’s completely waterproof. That way, you won’t have to be sitting in a restaurant, a classroom or the office on a rainy day, thinking about the $59 you just blew on a waterlogged gadget.

Forget your phone? Noke does offer Quick Click access as a backup. This is a custom code that will provide access to the Noke in no time, just like a regular padlock. For those that never want to be without the technology, the Noke does promise a year of normal use on one battery. An optional chain and bike mount is also available for an extra $20.

Currently, Fuz Designs is taking orders for the Noke through a Kickstarter campaign. At last peek, the company was close to tripling its $100K goal, with 26 days left to go. To score a Noke, you’ll need to pledge a minimum of $59 before the campaign ends on September 17, 2014. After that, backers can expect to receive the first shipment of Nokes sometime in February 2015.
