Doorbot Door Camera is Now the Ring Video Doorbell

The security product offers a 180-degree peek at your front door from almost anywhere.

Back in early 2013, we reported on a new security device called the Doorbot. Apparently, the company thought a different name had a better ring to it. That name is Ring.

Even though the name has changed, the product is basically the same — but with a few improvements. Overall though, the Ring Video Doorbell is just what it sounds like. It can stream live audio and video of your front doorstep to any smartphone or tablet. That way, you can see who goes there before you actually go there. Of course, it also works from across town or across the world, if you just want to see who may be knocking on your door.

The Ring includes built-in motion sensors to detect activity and trigger mobile alerts. Those sensors boast a 180-degree field of view and a range of up to 30 feet. You can also customize the Ring to make sure you aren’t getting unnecessary notifications.

According to parent company Bot Home Automation, the Ring can be installed in minutes and has a free app for iOS and Android users. Other features include cloud recording, night vision, weatherproof housing, and an internal rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that promises up to a year’s worth of use.

Bot Home Automation is currently selling the Ring right on the company’s website. It’s listed with an MSRP of $249.
