FutureDash Starts EnergyBuddy Monitoring at $99

The company has launched an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign for the EnergyBuddy Home Energy Monitoring System.

Hey little buddy! Of course, we’re giving a shout-out to the FutureDash EnergyBuddy, a new home energy monitoring system that’s now available for pre-order.

The company has launched the pre-ordering process via the open-funding platform IndieGoGo. Pledge $99, and you may be able to snag one of the first models. Of course, FutureDash will first have to raise its $60,000 goal by August 19, 2012.

Boasting energy, money and Earth savings, the EnergyBuddy lets you monitor and control electricity use around the home. Using red, yellow and green lights, the EnergyBuddy will alert users that are over or under budget.

Users can monitor and control the EnergyBuddy using a web-connected iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone or computer. The company also has optional SmartPlugs to provide more detail and control over individual appliances, devices and power strips.

For now, the EnergyBuddy will only be available to U.S. shoppers. A $99 pledge will get you the Early Bird Home Kit, which includes the EnergyBuddy device, one set of current transmitter clamps and a wireless transmitter for measuring whole-home electricity consumption. For $149, the EnergyBuddy SmartPlug Kit throws in two SmartPlugs. Finally, the cream of the crop is the Build Your Own Kit. For $198 and up, this allows contributors to choose one or more Home Kits or SmartPlug Kits and add any number of SmartPlug 2-packs.

FutureDash expects prices to go up once the product hits retail. There are also reseller/distributor pack perks available. In the meantime, you can get a peek at EnergyBuddy in the video below.
