We’ve seen a lot of soundbars over the past few years. However, ZVOX is still stuffing that sound into a more compact place—underneath the TV. The company doesn’t actually do soundbars, but has instead been producing several soundbase solutions for years. Now, they are making two of those very affordable as part of the company’s Value Series.
The ZVOX 450 and 350 wireless speakers both promise theater-quality, 3D sound from a pedestal design. As with all of ZVOX’s products, these two models boast one-wire connectivity for TVs up to 60 and 46 inches, respectively.
Both soundbase models have wood cabinets (MDF), each with multiple full-range speakers, a built-in powered subwoofer, PhaseCue virtual surround sound, and AccuVoice vocal enhancement. Also worth mentioning is that each model has support for Bluetooth with the aptX codec, so you can stream CD-quality sound from any connected smartphone, tablet or other compatible device to each of these wireless speakers, up to 40 feet away.
The 28-inch ZVOX 450 has five 2-inch speaker drivers, a 5.25-inch subwoofer, a 45-watt amplifier, and a frequency range of 45Hz to 20kHz. The 24-inch ZVOX 350 has three 2-inch drivers and the 5.25-inch subwoofer, as well as a 35-watt amp and a frequency range of 48Hz to 20kHz.
Other features include Output Leveling (OL) for balancing out the volume on those loud TV commercials, a four-digit display behind the speaker grille, an optical (Toslink) digital input, a coaxial digital input, and two analog audio inputs.
“The ZVOX 450 and 350 sound systems deliver insanely great sound at remarkable price points,” said Tom Hannaher, CEO of ZVOX Audio. “No home theater systems on the market can match their combination of sound quality, simplicity, features and price. We don’t think there are better home theater systems in this price range.”
The ZVOX 450 Soundbase is selling now with an MSRP of $299.99, with the ZVOX 350 Soundbase priced at $249.99.
