SiriusXM Gets Personal with MySXM

The new feature allows web-based listeners to create a customized experience.

SiriusXM currently offers commercial-free music and talk on many of its channels. Not good enough for you? The satellite service just launched a new perk called MySXM.

MySXM allows SiriusXM’s web-streaming subscribers to create a tailored listening experience using the service’s commercial-free music and comedy channels.

Here’s how it works: There are specific channels in the SiriusXM lineup that have the MySXM feature. It’s not going to work on every single channel. Those MySXM channels, however, have controls so you can adjust the listening experience. According to SiriusXM, there are currently 50 MySXM channels and each one of those has the option for 100 different variations. The company also plans to add MySXM to more channels in the future.

The tweaks can add “characteristics” to those specific channels, such as music style, tempo, region, and more. The end result should mean more of the music and comedy you love and less of the stuff that makes you want to throw your radio out the window — whether at home or on the road.

“MySXM is a personalization feature built to enhance our already well-loved curated commercial-free music and comedy channels and make an already amazing listening experience even more personal,” said Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer at SiriusXM. “Our experts set the stage giving you the tools to make the channel your own. You decide how involved you want to get and where you want to take your channel.”
