Want to stream movies from your Android-based tablet or phone? Shown at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas is a new CSS5123 soundbar from Philips that can stream that content to your TV. The soundbar comes with optical audio, coax, and HDMI video connections to the TV, and receives the content signal via Wi-Fi.
Content stored in an Android tablet, Android smart phone or PC, can be released from any DLNA-enabled (Digital Living Network Alliance) device with Philips’ SimplyShare app and built-in Wi-Fi functionality. With the integrated smart media player, you can also hook up a portable hard drive or thumb drive to enjoy media files.
Audio connections allow the soundbar to be used for both streaming and TV content.
North America licensee P&F says the soundbar has virtual surround sound technology and designed to fit any modern room decor. Its oval shape makes it thin enough to fits in front of the TV, and a built-in stand tilts the soundbar up at an angle. A wireless subwoofer accompanies the soundbar to provide bass.
The units will be available in April for $349.
