Paradigm Updates Millenia CT Speaker System

The compact 2.1 Millenia CT 2 speaker system is now shipping.

Back in 2012, Paradigm Electronics introduced the slick Millenia CT speaker system. Now the company has a little upgrade, announcing the aptly named Millenia CT 2. The 2.1 speaker system is now shipping.

The fully powered audio system doesn’t need a receiver. Instead, it packs in everything you’d need to create 2.1 sound. The setup includes two speakers and a subwoofer, as well as support for Dolby Digital, Bluetooth and aptX, and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile). Besides those Dolby Digital perks, the system also has a dedicated music mode, a movie mode, and Paradigm’s Virtual Surround mode.

Each of the speakers includes 1-inch S-PAL satin-anodized aluminum domes and 4-inch S-PAL satin-anodized bass/midrange cones. The subwoofer has an 8-inch reinforced polymer composite cone with a 1.5-inch high-temperature voice coil. Also worth mentioning is that the sub can be positioned vertically, horizontally, or slid under the couch for a super-clean install.

Speaking of clean installs, the system has an on-board control box interface with recessed controls, so you can easily stack the control module with the rest of your AV equipment. Other features include IR learning, as well as a remote control, the six audio cables needed for the setup, and adjustable stands. There are also brackets available for wall mounting, which are sold separately.

If you currently own the Millenia CT, don’t even think about trashing it. Paradigm has created an upgrade kit, which includes the control box and a new remote control.

“Same great sound, but the new additions make the system more convenient, more current and of course, keep it simple to operate,” says Mark Aling, Paradigm’s senior director of marketing. “Our proprietary Paradigm Virtual Surround designed by our engineers and made possible through our DSP-based amplifier platform adds hugely to its appeal as a movie machine. Customers get audiophile-quality immersive surround sound — all the fast-paced impact and surround magic of movies and multichannel music — from a compact 2.1 channel system! It’s also a great looking system that fits nicely into a variety of environments — that remains a big part of its appeal.”

Paradigm is selling the Millenia CT 2 now, with a black gloss and an $899.99 MSRP. The Millenia CT upgrade kit is also available now, for $199.99.

The upgrade kit for current Millenia CT owners includes the control box and a new remote.
