Mass Fidelity Launches Bluetooth Relay System

Easily connect your smartphone to your audio system.

The first product from Canadian audio manufacturer Mass Fidelity is a Bluetooth receiver designed to add wireless connectivity to existing audio systems. The Relay can add wireless audio to any hi-fi setup.

In the last two years Bluetooth has risen in popularity as a solution for connecting smartphones and tablets to audio systems. Part of that is that it’s generally less costly for a manufacture to implement than Apple’s proprietary AirPlay technology. Also, the rise in Android-based devices, which all include Bluetooth, has been a contributing factor.

With the Relay users can wirelessly stream any audio from the phone or tablet, including music files or audio apps (such as Pandora and Spotify) to their audio system.

The Relay is no run-of-the-mill Bluetooth adapter. The machined aluminum component includes a Burr-Brown 5102 digital-to-audio converter (DAC) and aptX Bluetooth module with A2DP support , which should appeal to audiophiles who are skeptical of Bluetooth’s audio capabilities. It connects to any audio system via standard analog RCA cables.

The Mass Fidelity Relay sells for $249.
