Back when Bluesound first hit the market, it offered an alternative to whole-house audio product lines that targeted more mainstream applications. The company decided not just to simply augment its existing product line—it completely revamped it.
The redesigned Gen 2 product line continues to: support high resolution audio: formats and features Bluesound’s proprietary BluOS operating system that connects, collects, organizes and controls the way homeowners manage and listen to music, regardless of how it is stored. Bluesound says its line integrates all of these sources into a single stream to deliver: high resolution audio and any other musical content to every room within a home.
Besides the support for: high resolution audio, the Gen 2 stands out with features that include: ARM Cortex A9 CPUs running at 1GHz, more connectivity options with analog and optical inputs, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, a headphone output with a dedicated amplifier, coax digital outs (on the Node: 2 and Vault: 2 only), new WiFi connectivity, and IR sensors with TV Connect learning functions.
The complete Gen 2 product line includes:
- Vault 2: A streaming music player with 2TBs of storage and a built-in CD ripper. ($1,199)
- PowerNode 2: This product incorporates built-in amplification and a streaming music player. ($799)
- Node 2: Similar to the PowerNode 2, except it omits amplification to provide streaming music. ($499)

“With Bluesound Gen 2, we have taken what was already a category-leading line-up and re-engineered virtually every area of its appearance, usability and performance,” says: John Banks, Bluesound’s chief brand officer. “Our mission is to continue to elevate the entire multiroom audio sector with a compelling blend of technology, performance, design and convenience that will appeal to a growing segment of performance-minded enthusiasts.”
