BenQ is pretty well known for projectors and monitors, but now they want to complete the package by getting into the audio business. The company’s first sound product will be the treVolo Bluetooth speaker.
Promising audiophile-grade sound, the treVolo is designed for portable use. It has a collapsible wing design, bidirectional sound reproduction, and aptX Bluetooth wireless technology. It even has three audio profile modes, including the default Pure, Warm, and Vivid.
However, what really sets it apart from other Bluetooth speakers is the electrostatic technology, which is what you’d typically find on high-end floorstanding speakers.
According to BenQ, the treVolo’s main electrostatic drivers emit sound forward and backward, making it spacious and natural. It also has two woofers and two passive radiators. Other features include a quad-amplified design with three-channel digital signal processing, a speakerphone with a noise-cancelling microphone, a 16-bit digital USB input, an analog line-out function, and a rechargeable battery that boasts up to 12 hours of playback.
“Audiophile-grade sound has never travelled so well,” said Bob Wudeck, associate vice president of BenQ’s Strategy and Business Development. “With a stunning portable design, electrostatic speaker technology, and aptX Bluetooth integration, our treVolo speaker lets users listen to their music anytime, anywhere. Offering up to twelve hours of continuous play from streaming music services or handheld devices, treVolo lets music lovers enjoy extraordinary vocal clarity, expressive bass, and uninterrupted on-the-go sessions on a single charge.”
BenQ is planning to ship the treVolo in time for the holidays. It’s expected to sell in silver or black for $299.
The treVolo has collapsible wings that allow for easy transport.
