When it comes to whole-house music, you no longer need to be tethered. We’ve seen a slew of wireless speaker options this year. If you can hang on for a few more months, you can become the proud owner of the Archt One.
The Archt One is a new wireless speaker that promises omnidirectional sound from a small package that measures just 17 inches high. It’s a cool looking package, too. That eye-catching design allows it to deliver sound to every corner of the room. Well, that and the speaker’s patented Sound Array technology. That perk tweaks the typical speaker’s dispersion pattern, promising a wider soundfield.
To deliver the goods, the Archt One packs in a full range driver, a subwoofer and a passive radiator. There’s also a digital signal processor (DSP), support for AirPlay and Bluetooth, and a USB port — just in case you want/need to be tethered once in a while.
Also worth noting is that the Archt One promises 24-bit/192kHz streaming over Wi-Fi. It also allows you to link multiple Archt One speakers over the network, for easy, multi-zone audio.
On the outside of the speaker, there are manual controls. However, the Archt One also has a compatible iOS app. The best part about the app is that it has a location-based optimization sensor to calibrate the speaker based on your location.
Currently, Archt Audio is seeking funding for the Archt One on Kickstarter. At last peek, the campaign had almost doubled its goal numbers, but there’s still time to secure your Archt One speaker before the campaign ends on Friday, December 12, 2014. To stake claim on a speaker, you’ll need to pledge a minimum of $349, which is $250 off the speaker’s projected retail price. Once the campaign ends, Archt Audio plans to send speakers out to initial backers between February and March 2015.
