NuForce Debuts $499 Primo 8 In-Ear Headphones

The new flagship in-ear headphones include a quad-balanced armature speaker design.

It’s hard to imagine detailed sound coming from a pair of in-ear headphones. After all, they’re so tiny! However, NuForce is stuffing a lot of sound technology into its new Primo 8.

The company’s flagship in-ear headphones promise to deliver stellar highs, lows and everything in between. That’s because each earpiece has four proprietary balanced armature speakers making up a unique three-way design. Two of those speakers operate as one for bass frequencies, with one dedicated to midrange, and the other for treble.

NuForce has those two speakers working together to reproduce the lowest frequency ranges possible — while still sounding completely natural.

Other features include a patent-pending three-way phase-coherent crossover design and a star-pattern Litz cable. That basically means that the cable is built around a core of Kevlar Silk, which is then surrounded by a star pattern of seven silver wires. A layer of insulation envelops those silver wires, which is surrounded by another star pattern of nine bundles of fine gauge, seven-stranded, individually insulated OFC wires. That entire assembly also has a pliable polymer to eliminate any mechanical noise contamination.

NuForce is selling the Primo 8 now, with an MSRP of $499.
