Headphones aren’t just a portable audio solution. There are so many good options coming out these days, audiophiles are actually making headphones part of everyday listening.
At least, they are when they’re paired with the proper headphone amplifier. Marantz has just introduced its very first headphone amplifier featuring an integrated DAC (digital analog converter), known as the HD-DAC1.
Packing in the same amplification technologies as the company’s Premium 11 Series, the HD-DAC1 promises an intense, personalized audio experience.
Promising to drive high-impedance headphones of up to 600 ohms, the HD-DAC1 has a three-level gain control, Marantz’s own HDAM-SA2 modules, and more. It could also be shared with others, when hooked up to a pair of active speakers or power amps.
The HD-DAC1 features optical and coaxial digital inputs, a pair of USB ports, and an analog input. The USB-B option also works in an asynchronous mode for 192kHz/24-bit high-resolution audio and DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz.
Marantz will start selling the HD-DAC1 in black sometime in October, with an MSRP of $799.
