Adding devices into your already crowded computer setup often turns into an all-day project. The Drone wants to cut to the chase, making the whole process as easy as plug and play.
Designed for both PC and Mac users, Callpod’s Drone isn’t just another USB adapter. Just pop it into your computer’s port, and you can roam and use VoIP services from up to 100 meters away. It also streams music, which can be automatically muted whenever calls come in. As an added bonus, the unit also supports data transfers between a computer and an iPhone or other portable. It can even be used to print photos from cameras or phones, as long as you’re within range.
“We wanted the Drone to be strong, elegant and easy to use. We did not want to put the burden on the consumer of dealing with complicated CD ROMs and computer settings. You simply plug in the Drone and it’s ready to go,” said Darren Guccione, Callpod’s CEO and co-founder.
We could drone on, but Callpod has a demo that does a nice job of showing off how the product works. If you’re just looking to buy, it’s out now for $50.
