I purchaced my PS3 primarily for Blu-Ray and it’s media server capabilities.

It’s not really grasping at straws when it goes back to the argument that Bluray is a rushed unfinished product. I’m looking for link where Sony executive even admits that they rushed it out to compete with HDDVD….I just read that a few days ago, but it take sometime to find it. Also, it was an example to show where…

LMAO!!! A $5K system includes a home theater in a box??? Are you kidding me? HTiB (in my opinion) should never cost more than $1000, otherwise buy individual speakers and a receiver. 42” Pioneer and Panasonic plasmas are all under $2000. So where is that last $2000 going? You just “seen everybody buying blu ray in the best buy?” In my nearest Best Buy, they’re still collecting dust, yet many people are still buying up-converting DVD players.

I do not understand why xbox 360 add-ons are not counted. I suppose the ps3 isn’t counted b/c it is primarily a video game machine. The 360 add-on is not a video game machine (although it is connected to one), it is solely for playing hd-dvds. Nobody is buying the 360 add-on to play games. Just a minor point, but…

It is disingenuous to report that Blu-ray player sales have “skyrocketed”. This is simply not the case. More accurately, HD DVD player sales for this particular week have plummetted. Blu-ray player sales did in fact grow for the week, but considering the enormous drop-off in HD DVD player sales, High Def Disc Player sales in general have actually fallen considerably…
