HD-A3 (HD-DVD) has been the number one selling movie player of ANY kind on Amazon.com for 5 days straight with the rest of the current HD DVD players in the top 7 and no BD players in the top 7. I’m really getting sick of all the constant spin doctors trying to tell us that HD DVD is dead for…

Now, say Sony never put Blu-Ray in the PS3, who would be on top?

Joe T. Who’s going to deliver you the bandwidth you need for uninterrupted 1080p streaming video? Let me know where I can get that and I’ll sell my PS 3 as soon as I have it installed. The truth is that streaming in this quality is WAY, WAY off right now. Most broadband connections in homes today can barely handle…

Yeah this article doesn’t seem to be marketed to you guys, a theater would involve high definition components as well as component switching. The 5000 is a bit much for and HTiB setup though. I figure the best 42” setup with the same stuff would go something like this: 42” pioneer 4280 or 40” sony xbr4 $2000-2400 wall mount bracket…

I know the article is not entirely accurate, and that most components can be picked up at a fraction of the total estimate, but I don’t think he had BEST BUY in mind when he wrote this article. Perhaps he had an absolute maximum in mind and went by the old rule of thumb of “cheaper is NEVER better”. Hmmm……

If you include the PS3 numbers the variance would be even worse; I think NPD was being generous. The PS3 accounts for something like 90% of all BluRay player sales (if included in the numbers).
It’s pretty much over I think. Maybe next time they’ll learn and not compete with the consumer caught in the middle.

Okay, it was not a Sony executive, but BDA ones.
Here are the articles admitting the rush job and they are going to screw the early adopters of Bluray out of interactive features:

Wow, budgeting a home theater with “All construction, electrical, installation and furnishing costs aside” is like budgeting a car without wheels, engine, and seats!

Why would anyone buy a player for a format that is looking like it may well disappear as a sourse for new releases. I would think if you have a player it would make sesnse to but some newly released titles as who knows how long before they show up on Blu Ray. ( Bourne series and all ) That…
