Danny, the PS3 internally decodes TrueHD signal and sends it out as PCM. So he should in fact be hearing the TrueHD track. However I disagree with him that TrueHD and LPCM sound different. On the most high end of audio systems, the raw LPCM track is maybe only slightly louder, but EXACTLY the same in quality. It’s not compressed…

We used (2) different versions of Belden structured cable. The first bundle included (2) RG6, (2) cat5e and dual fiber optic. The second bundle omitted the fiber optic. (4) coax are used for (1) OTA broadcast of VHF,UHF & FM. (1) for Cable TV, (1) for Satellite, (1) spare (or for dual tuner DVR with older Direct TV tuners). The…

I DONT KNOW WHY PEOPLE OR COMPANIE ARE COMPARING TOSHIBAS’ HD-A2 TO SONY’S BD PS300
AT PRICE POINT WHEN HDA2 IS ONLY A GLORIFIED UP CONVERTING DVD AND BDPS300 IS FULL HD AT 1080P.
THE BETTER COMPARISON IS HD-A2 299 CDN$ WITH DVPNS78H 149.99CDN$.

dannyboy: Well yes, of course you are hearing a difference—that’s because you’re not actually listening to a true Dolby True HD signal! Fromhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_true_hd: “Although HDMI 1.3 supports transmission of TrueHD bitstreams, this feature has yet to be used in any player. HD DVD players can transcode the TrueHD bitstream into a different legacy format (such as Dolby Digital or DTS),…

Usually the sme people that believe a cable is a cable is a cable also own a $299 receiver (it sounds as good as those 2 thousand dollar ones I swear!) or they own an HTIB and tell people” these speaker’s sound as good as the real expensive one’s in the store”. So frankly, they CAN’T tell the difference in…

Aaron-I have an XA1 and a PS3. When I watch a movie on my PS3, you can hit the “display” button and it will show the bit rates for both Audio and Video. Here’s what I get across the board on every movie and it’s respective encoding: Regular Dolby 640 kbps. Regular DTS: 1.5 Mbps Dolby True HD: 1.5 Mbps…

I agree with the above comments but also have more. Why isn’t the cable industry held accountable for the pathetic reputation (as mentioned in the original article) of cable cards? After all, they invented them and control the specs on them! For example, Time Warner won’t allow customers to install cable cards so it requires a service call (at least…

I’m looking for a great exhaust fan that can be reversed and act as a body and hair dryer with built in heater in reverse mode only.

No such thing as an “HD” cable card. Also, all cable cards are two-way. The host devices have limited them to one-way communication.
