While true that the front of the line was filled with Early Adopters (Video/Audio Geeks), I found that the line also had people I might consider less technically savy.  No doubt all of these people’s friends will see the High Def output during the season’s, and I have found that people gawk at the picture that my HD setup can…

In reference to “Cyrl” comment on “fairness is a 2 way street”. I guess that’s why a community cannot get a contract with Comcast unless they agree to pay the company damages if another service moves into the area and it hurts their business. Is that what you call fair “Cyrl”? I guess it’s fair to you since you work…

Yes I found it confusing as well, The iPod and associated music file is still the source… It’s pretty much a given that music out of speakers will sound different to headphones. Following on, it’s most likely that a more expensive dock will sound better than a cheap dock. I’m not sure how DSP’s or valve amps make music sound…

FINALLY. See, now this article is ACTUALLY interesting. Why? Because a breakdown of the costs has appeared. It’s a shame that it had to take the comments section to make it appear, but, it’s nice to know ballparks for DIY and professional help. Every article shoudl be informatative as to ideas of cost and what’s involved. Now was that so…

Hi Steve: You are absolutely right… and I did not mean to imply that ANY of these devices would uncompress files. They’re not magic! However, this is just a selection of better playback devices than your typical iPod speaker… the processing does make a difference!

Once the signal has been compressed, no amount of expensive electronics like this will uncompress it, as seems implied by the article. If you really want to avoid the effects of compression, just use the (relatively) uncompressed CD AIFF files or use Apple Lossless (in iTunes). With iPod capacities increasing, using large files is becoming less of a problem. Then…

Unless you’re selling Leer Jets or Cruise Ships there are very few businesses that would agree that selling 4 items at $2.5mil is a better approach than 10mi; at $1.00. It might be less work, if you’re a great salesperson, but… As for loss leaders, Sony posted a loss of $876 (or so) MILLION in loss form their gaming (read:…
