Dave, now you’re just being ridiculous. So news articles about retailers reporting 30% failure rates, personal experience, Microsoft stating that they were going to spend $1 billion dollars on repairs, and widespread anecdotal information isn’t “proof?” Do you expect me to go door to door to everyone who owns a 360 and ask them if theirs has ever had a…

Soundzilla, I’m happy to hear your satisfaction with your PS3 investment and sorry to hear that you’re not interested in what HD DVD has to offer. HD DVD remains a great home theater option for those interested in just HD movies for a great price. Personally, I believe the two formats can coexist. It’s sad the movies studios have these…

It’s called “convergence”. Have you noticed that Sony’s TVs have the same menu bar as the PS3 now? They are blurring the line between gaming system and home video component. The more people see this interface, the more they’ll think whatever they’re seeing is an appropriate component for their living room or theater room. Unlike the PS2, which had crappy…

Steve, For the record, I haven’t seen you as anything other than a stand up guy you make good points without the need to skew the facts. I appreciate that. We may have to agree to disagree on the dedicated movie watcher/casual gamer = PS3 point. Given history outside of Japan :) I can’t see that it shows much value…

Doug,. 20GB PS3 - Discontinued 60GB PS3 - Discontinued 80GB PS3 - On the market. Software BC emulation only 40GB PS3 - On the market. No BC possible. The only PS3 available for less than $400 has had BC removed. The next step up that has BC is $100 more. That seems to suggest Sony thought BC was worth at…

Bob, Considering many potential PS3 buyers likely already own PS2’s I think being able to play those games on the PS3 will be a factor. After all, there’s nothing like the nostalgic of going back to play old favorites. I still play Final Fantasy VII no matter how blocky it looks.

Peter, I’ll settle this with a simple question. Can you post PROOF that the 360 failure rate affects a large segment of the total 360 install base?

This artical appears to be misleading implying that Pioneer’s TV is the first (high definition) product with 24p. Why didnot the author list all other products with 24p? I have seen so many products for such a long period that I would not call 24p new. I would call; 4Kx2K (twice the standard of 1920x1080p), 4x1080p and 16x1080p new technology.…

Once you see the hi-def ps3 games, you won’t look back. PS2 games pale in comparison.

I think asking for a $199 PS3 is a bit crazy considering you’re getting full-HD capability, a blu-ray disc player, and built in wi-fi. You get what you pay for and if you have an HDTV, $399 is a good deal, IMHO.
