Destiny! Destiny! No escaping that for me! Destiny! Destiny! No escaping that for me!

There’s no escaping this either: ”Young Frankenstein” is coming to Blu-ray. The Mel Brooks classic will be 35 next year, but apparently Fox couldn’t wait, promising “one of the studio’s most advanced BD releases to date.” We’d better not see an “even more advanced!” version next fall.

The studio says that the new release will include Bonus View picture-in-picture interviews with Mel Brooks, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, and others. It appears that these interviews are new; notably absent is the film’s star Gene Wilder. Other extras include two new behind-the-scenes featurettes, never-before-seen deleted and extra scenes, an on-screen trivia track, “The Brain Game” set-top game, and the interactive “Blucher Button” feature. There are also plenty of other new and previously released extras.

As far as specs, the release will be authored in BD-J on a dual-layer 50GB disc presented in widescreen format (1.85:1 aspect ratio) with English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio plus English, Spanish and French Mono and includes English, French, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and Korean subtitles.

Voted number 13 in AFI’s list of America’s 100 Funniest Movies, “Young Frankenstein” also stars late, great comedians Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn and Peter Boyle.

Plan to take a “roll in ze-hay” when “Young Frankenstein” hits Blu-ray on October 7.
