Ever wonder how you’d fare in front of the camera? Maybe even as a substitute for Matthew Broderick in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” or “Scarface” Al Pacino?
Now you can polish up your acting skills, get in front of a green screen and play kind of a karaoke for movies with a new home entertainment system from Yoostar. Yes, the website actually has the awful misspelled tagline “Starring Yoo” to promote its system (would be funnier here in Massachusetts if it read “Starring Yooooouuuuk” instead).
But we’ll give ‘em a pass on that and say that the system looks like it would make for a fun social network site or good time party game, if you’ve got the $149 SRP to burn.
The Yoostar system comes with everything you need to turn your connected living room or home office into a movie studio, with camera and built-in microphone, green screen, remote control and Yoostar software (for either PC or Mac).
There’s an assortment of movie clips you get from the start, and others are available to buy and download on the company’s website. Overall, Yoostar has access to more than 800 movies from the likes of Paramount, Universal, MGM and Lions Gate.
Using the system you can recreate original scenes from iconic movies like “The Godfather,” “Airplane,” “The Pink Panther” and such, and insert yourself as the star to give your own not-so-award-winning performance, with as many takes as you’d like to get it perfect.
Then you can upload it to the website, build your own personal actor page, let others watch, rate and share the scenes and more. It’ll be available in late spring 2009, according to the company. Just don’t quit your day job.
