November probably isn’t the best time to think about a portable iPod dock—unless you’re compiling a gift list, of course. However, the Yamaha PDX-11 Portable Dock is something you just can’t ignore. Look at it!
The company just announced this standout portable player dock. It looks a little like a strobe light. However, this octagonal horn-shaped design is built for travel. Yamaha says it’s a rugged player, but we don’t think it’s the type of thing you want to leave out in the snow or even drop-kick across a holiday party.
That said, the PDX-11 has a “grab and go” roll bar chrome handle, which makes it easy to tote around. Six AA batteries boast up to 8 hours of portable power, or you can use the included AC power supply.
Once you get to your destination, park that iPod or iPhone in the dock on top, and get ready to rock out via a 4-inch woofer and a separate tweeter.
Of course, the PDX-11 doesn’t always have to be on the go. It also works with a PC, Mac or other digital audio player via a mini jack (3.5mm) on the back of the dock.
Available in white, dark blue, green and black, the Yamaha PDX-11 is available now with an MSRP of $99.95.
