We’re used to seeing receivers packed with all sorts of networking features. However, Yamaha is putting such perks into its newly announced R-N500 network stereo receiver.

The new receiver promises Hi-Fi sound from analog and digital sources. However, it also has support for AirPlay, so users can stream content wirelessly from iOS devices and iTunes. If you’re in need of more music, the R-N500 also has support for Pandora and Spotify Connect. (Just be aware that subscriptions and/or fees may apply.)

USB and DLNA connectivity provide two additional ways to add entertainment into this mix.

Other features include Yamaha’s Pure Direct mode, a digital audio input, and 40-station FM/AM preset tuning. The R-N500 is also compatible with Yamaha’s free Network Player Controller app for smartphones and tablets.

“The R-N500 is a connected music hub that provides the exceptional sonic purity and a classic appearance that more than meets the demands of today’s audio enthusiasts,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha’s AV division. “Music of any genre in any format—including CDs, vinyl and high resolution files—is delivered with the best possible sound reproduction.”

Yamaha will start selling the R-N500 network stereo receiver sometime in late October. It’s listed with an MSRP of $599.95.
