You bought that HDTV to make TV a better overall experience. However, in case you haven’t noticed, the average HDTV doesn’t sound as pretty as it looks. Yamaha wants to give your everyday viewing a nice audio boost with the YAS-101 Front Surround System.
The company’s newly announced soundbar promises stellar sound from a single-speaker solution. Even better, it’s an affordable solution, for just $299.95 (MSRP).
The YAS-101 promises 7.1 channels of surround sound using the company’s own Air Surround Xtreme technology. Besides the tech, the YAS-101 packs a dual-driver speaker design with a built-in 60-watt subwoofer inside a slim piano black finish that’s built to go under the TV, all without blocking the picture. It can also go on a shelf or be wall-mounted.
The YAS-101 has support for Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound formats, as well as Yamaha’s UniVolume feature, which should level out some of those spikes we’ve all experienced during super-loud commercials breaks.
“Yamaha introduced the sound bar category in 2005. With each model we’ve introduced, we have offered consumers the benefit of our unique understanding of sound and audio, including extensive input from our pro audio and musical instrument product companies,” said Tom Sumner, president, Yamaha Electronics Corporation. “With the YAS-101, we are able to give customers an incredible audio experience, as well as simple set up and installation at an unprecedented price. This is the ideal entry point for anyone interested in stepping up to a serious sound bar solution.”
The YAS-101 is compatible with standard TV, cable or satellite remotes, via a learning function. It also comes with its own controller.
The YAS-101 is ready to rock right out of the box, with the one digital cable needed to connect the soundbar to any HDTV. It also has two optical inputs, one coaxial input and a subwoofer output for an optional external subwoofer.
