Xbox Adds Internal Memory
The gaming console has added a little something extra inside.
Xbox Arcade
The Xbox 360 Arcade will now include 256MB of internal storage.

For those that pooh-pooh the Xbox for its lack of internal memory, well… now you will need something else to pick on.

After hearing that the 360 was adding a little something special inside, Xbox 360 Fanboy spoke to a “Microsoft spokesperson” to confirm the rumors. The Xbox 360 Arcade will now come with 256MB of internal storage. Now you can save all of your gaming goodness right to the unit; no memory card is needed.

We’re assuming that everyone clamoring to buy one on Black Friday got the goods without even knowing it.

Back in September, Microsoft dropped its console’s price to $199. As a result of that (as well as bundle deals), they did some nice business over the holiday weekend.

Did you buy an Xbox 360 Arcade on Black Friday? Did you know about the new memory? Have you opened the box or is it for someone else? Did you buy because of the new price? Drop a comment below.

First of all M$ is not nickle and diming as VinTheDean has stated, they are offering different options. Instead of getting a 256MB Memory card, it is now internal. Really no big deal, but the cost is the same.

Secondly, 256 MB memory is sufficient for storing game saves. For premium content, you will need to purchase a hard drive, or have purchased an XBOX with a HDD included. Even with the included HDD you are still looking at a cheaper unit than a PS3. PS3 gives you BluRay. That is the PS3 advantage.

I’m a little confused… 256 MB of internal memory isn’t all that much is it? And if it wasn’t standard in the first place, it’s not like a game can do much to take advantage of it right?

And I might agree that the 360 is an easier platform to develop for, but more powerful overall? Nah…

Not really…the memory’s been there it’s just internal now. One out of the 3 xbox models doesn’t have a harddrive, big deal, it’s cheaper than any of the PS3’s (even if you buy the 20 gig seperately).

the XBOX is just a more powerful unit with a better interactive platform.  For 60GB hard drive you shell out $299 which also includes a wireless controller, headset, and cables.  Invest $40 to get 12 month gold card online access and a good Xbox live game and you’re set!

I think it sucks that M$ is nickle and diming it’s customers.  In order for you to make use of this new feature of internal memory standard, you now have to go out and buy a new one.  It should have been there from the beginning.

ALL PS3’s have a hard drive.  Problem solved.
