I hate getting all jazzed up about something only to have it never come out. But OK… I’m going to bite when it comes to the Iona.
Iona is a “design” for a battery-powered portable that uses Wi-Fi to tap into Web radio. It’s like the Pioneer Inno, without the monthly satellite service fee (or the recording capabilities). Cambridge says that the radio can be added into other products (recording?), without pumping up the price too much.
Even though it’s just a theory right now, the company says they will show off some product designs at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Don’t disappoint me guys. If this baby isn’t under my tree next year, I will come looking for you!
- Estimated price: $50 to $60
- Battery powered portable
- Design to be shown at CES
