If you live in Texas you may be able to take advantage of a contest that can land you in a new home automation and energy management system. Reliant Energy—the electricity provider for more than 1.5 million customers—is promoting a contest that can help the winners save on power while outfitting them with a suite of cool stuff.
The sweepstakes, which runs until January 31, will give two winners Control4 home automation systems that allows the users to monitor their energy consumption and control devices anywhere in the house.
An iPad app will provide out-of-home control as well. In addition to fun stuff like the iPad, a 46-inch LDC TV and Rhapsody music service, the system will cover practical devices like thermostats and light switches. “This makeover will take an average home and make it smarter and more energy savvy,” said Tom Gros, Senior Vice President, Reliant Energy.
Reliant’s Energy Monitoring System will email weekly power usage reports to allow the user to make informed energy decisions.
According to the contest website, the setup includes the following:
- Home Automation - home controller, one year service activation, thermostat, light switches, cameras, one year of streaming music from Rhapsody, installation and set-up
- Energy Monitoring System - includes one year monitoring service, installation and set-up
- Flat Panel TV - 46” energy efficient LCD/LED flat panel TV, installation included
- iPad Wi-Fi - 16GB iPad with case
