Wharfedale is adding a little boom to its speaker lineup. The company just announced two Ultra Power Cube (UPC) subwoofers, which are being distributed by the Massachusetts-based company Sound Import, LLC.

Both of the UPC subs promise dual drivers and a whole lot of adjustment options. The latter can actually be done via remote control, so you can stand back and adjust your home theater system to your liking.

Each sub has a dual-woofer arrangement, with the woofers mounted opposite each other in the enclosure. The company says that configuration can produce maximum bass output and efficiency. Those woofers also boast a high-excursion, long-throw design that promises a low-frequency response to 30Hz.

Other features include sound-effect modes and controls for volume, variable low-pass crossover, crossover slope and phase adjustment, as well as stereo and mono (LFE) line in and speaker-level inputs. Any and all of your adjustments can be made manually on the sub’s front-panel LED display or by using the included remote control.

Sound Import says that both subs should start shipping in the U.S. very soon. The UPC-10 has two 10-inch woofers, a built-in 500-watt amplifier, and an MSRP of $1,599. The UPC-8 has two 8-inch woofers, a 350-watt amp, and a $1,199 price tag. Each one will be available in rosewood cherry veneer, vintage cherry veneer and black oak veneer finishes.
