Westinghouse Shows Off New Series of LCDs
Portable LCDs, HDTV/DVD combo units, and 1080p displays highlight several new lines by Westinghouse Digital.

At a fashionable mid-town penthouse in the West Side of New York, Westinghouse Digital Electronics, introduced several new LCD TVs for the 2nd half of 2008. Divided into 720p and 1080p series of TVs, the new displays offer viewing experiences tailor-made to the living room, bedroom and den. The company hopes to bring better image quality at better prices.

With the majority of television sales in screen sizes of 32-in. or lower, Westinghouse Digital is offering their SK Series 720p LCD HDTVs, which includes combo DVD player/LCD HDTVs; its PT Series portable LCD HDTVs; its W Series 720p LCD HDTVs HDTV; and its TX Series of 1080p HDTVs in screen sizes ranging from 40-in. to 52-in.

Portable HDTVs
Westinghouse Digital’s new PT Series of portable LCD HDTVs are available in 16-in. and 19-in. screen sizes designed for HDTV on the go or at home as a 2nd, 3rd , or 4th TV. All models include a digital ASTC tuner. The 16-in. PT-16H610S is a dual-hinged lifestyle HDTV that flips and folds like a contortionist to fit easily into any room in the home, especially the kitchen. Offering a sleek design, the PT-16H610S can sit on a countertop or be mounted on a wall or on the bottom of a hanging cabinet. To save counter space, the unit can easily be mounted under a cabinet and offers full 180-degree rotation of the front bezel so the picture image is right side up. Also tremendous for wall mounting, the PT-16H610S features a 1080p HDMI input turning your kitchen into a high-tech PC and console gaming center. The PT Series includes: The 16-in. PT-16H120S portable LCD HDTV ($279); the 16-in. PT-16H610S flip style portable LCD HDTV ($329); and the 19-in. PT-19H140S portable LCD HDTV ($379). 

SK 720p HDTVs
The SK Series (approximately 15 models) is designed for use in a bedroom, den or kitchen in screen sizes ranging from 19-in through 42-inches. These LCD HDTVs feature Westinghouse’s proprietary technologies such as: SpineDesign for easy connector access and cable management, and DayBright panel technology for stunning daytime or nighttime viewing. The SK Series delivers a 720p (1366 x 768) high resolution with ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM tuner, supports all TV formats (1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i) and offers multiple HD input connectors including 2 HDMI. With its speedy response time, the SK Series is also perfect for PC and console gaming. The Preset Video Modes gives users the ability to select from a menu of customized viewing styles and the Advanced Calibration Menu enables advanced adjustments to the calibration settings, including colorimetry. The SK Series TVs are Energy Star Compliant with product packaging that uses recyclable materials. 

SK LCD HDTV/DVD Combo Units
Westinghouse Digital is expanding the line with the addition of its new 26-in. SK-26H590D and 32-in. SK-32H590D HDTV/DVD combo players. The SK Series combo units feature an integrated Front Load DVD Player using Westinghouse’s PixelDirect technology. This advanced technology delivers DVD video to the screen using a direct path with the least amount of signal processing for superb image reproduction. The players’ intelligent AutoSource technology automatically turns the TV on and adjusts it whenever an external source is detected. The new SK combo models feature 1366 x 768 resolutions and offer multiple HD input connectors including 2 HDMI, an ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM tuner, and preset and custom video modes for exceptional viewing experience.  The SK-26H590D sells for $649, and the SK-32H590D is priced at $849.

720p LCD HDTVs (32-in. W3223 and 26-in. W2613)
Featuring a piano gloss bezel and 720p (1366 x 768) high resolution, Westinghouse Digital’s new 32-in. W3223 and 26-in. W2613 LCD HDTVs appear to be good choices for consumers who are ready to finally get their first HDTV or replace an old CRT. Both sets feature an ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM tuner, multiple HD input connectors including 2 HDMI, and support all TV formats (1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i). The W3223 720p LCD HDTV is priced at $699 and the W2613 at $499.
